BSA De-Pinger / Depinger
This is a de-pinger from a BSA Scorpion. It can be fitted to an un-regulated Ultra, Ultra SE, Scorpion, Scorpion SE, Lonestar etc. The de-pinger rod is too short to fit the Ultramax, you could fit a longer threaded rod though.
It helps to reduce the hammer noise that resonates through the air cylinder after firing, which can make the action noise much quieter and less pingy (if there is such a word?).
To fit it you will need to drain down all the air in the air cylinder by dry firing the rifle,
- Unscrew the air cylinder,
- Screw the threaded end of the long stud on the de-pinger into the brass firing valve cap/cover (it looks like a pepper pot lid),
- Carefully slide the air cylinder over the de-pinger,
- Tighten up the air cylinder onto the firing valve body,
- Go shooting.
These may be used but it has no effect on the performance of the part.
Regulated rifles don't need a de-pinger because the regulator isolates the hammer noise from the air cylinder.
De-pingers do not improve shot count or alter the performance of the rifle in any way, they just reduce the ping from the air cylinder.
